Garden Ladders
Garden Ladders are either a decorating accessory used in gardens, or they are used to work in your garden. The Garden Ladders which are used for decorations can either be found inside or outside, and they don’t always look exactly like a ladder. Quite often they are built with much wider ‘steps’ to fit larger plants on. Over time, the plants grow up and cover parts of the ladder, and it blends in. These look very pretty in a garden if you pick the right type. A lot of people have them inside as well, built out of clean looking timber with smaller plants on them. Generally the outdoor garden ladders for putting plants on are made out of timber, and as they age they begin to look more and more a part of the garden.
Some people put older timber ladders into the garden by themselves, without anything on them. They actually make a great looking accessory, and if they are no good for using as a real ladder then why not make good use out of them? For Garden Ladders that you use to prune and look after plants, there is a huge range. You can purchase steel, aluminum, timber, plastic and fiberglass ladders, all of which are designed for their own little purposes. Today, there is technology available in ladders to make them fold into each other. You can get huge ladders which will fit in the boot of your car, if you fold them up!
The biggest issue that I have found with Garden Ladders is that when you are working in dirt or soft soil they dig in. This is not only a pain when you are climbing up, but what happens is that each corner doesn’t usually sink at the same rate. This can be very dangerous, because it leaves you dangling sideways and at risk of tipping over. Of course, you can put little blocks of wood under each corner, but this is time consuming and rather annoying. I have found that a Ladder Leveler is a great addition to any ladder that you have, especially when you are working in dirt.
Garden Ladders range in size considerably, based on what you need to do. Some people have huge trees that need to be pruned, whilst others may just want a small step ladder to get over the top of a small hedge. Whatever you need, there is bound to be a few options for you. If you visit the local hardware and gardening stores you will see that there is a lot of option. Personally, I prefer aluminum ladders as they are the lightest, and also very strong. When you are constantly moving around, having a light ladder makes all of the difference.
If you haven’t seen the Telestep Ladder before, it’s something that you should look into. They don’t work as step ladders, but they are adjustable to about 6 meters. This is very handy for working on big trees, and best of all it only weighs 22 pounds. Even better, you can fit it in your car boot because it is telescopic, and folds down to a very small size.
